MISSION:

The goals of the LGBTQ+ and Allies affinity group are to create community for LGBTQ+ members of SWE and advocate for LGBTQ+ affirmation and inclusion in SWE's work and in engineering more broadly.

Mental Health Resources

Mental Health

Stonewall Columbus Community Center is a hub for community-building events as well as
mental health and career resources for the community. It’s located on High and 4th Avenue, a
ten minute bus ride from OSU’s campus. They offer many different wellness programs: support
groups for queer and transgender people, individual counseling services, HIV/STI testing, and
support for addiction recovery. Stonewall Columbus in-house counseling services give priority to
uninsured or Medicaid individuals and does not accept private insurance.

Equitas Health is a nonprofit healthcare system dedicated to serving LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS
patients. They offer comprehensive services including in-person and telehealth mental health
counseling, gender affirming care, HIV/STI testing, addiction recovery support, and advocacy for
survivors of abuse/violence. Equitas Health does accept Medicaid and most private health
insurance plans.

The Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization orchestrates community and individual
programs with the goal of supporting LGBTQ+ survivors of hate-based violence, sexual assault,
stalking, or domestic abuse. They run a live helpline and offer walk-in hours for anyone seeking
assistance.

Equality Ohio is dedicated to protecting the civil rights of LGBTQ+ Ohioans by offering free legal services to those within 300% of the federal poverty line.

Clubs

OSU LGBTQ+ Focused Clubs

PrideOSU engages the local LGBTQ+ community with events designed to educate and connect members.

SASHA is a public health organization dedicated to improved sexual health education in Ohio schools with an emphasis on reproductive health rights, LGBTQ+ topics, and healthy
masculinity.

Through a combination of advocacy, educational, and community-building events, MindVersity aims to improve the mental health of the BIPOC within and beyond the Ohio State community.

Scholarships

LGBTQ+ Scholarships

PriOffers a variety of scholarships and community support for LGBTQ+ students including the Flagship Scholarship whose application period runs from September to December.
Their other main scholarship, the Access Scholarship, has applications open from January to March and provides up to $1,500 for students that have faced limited access to opportunities.

Supports a scholarship open to any central Ohio college student with a
2.75 GPA or higher. The application period runs from January to March.

Has several LGBTQ+ focused scholarships that can be accessed
through Scholarship Universe.
